Making the case for diversity
Pinergy is a young business with a strong focus on sustainability and the future. Launched just over a decade ago, Pinergy is at forefront of driving change in the energy sector. It has also been an advocate of change and doing things differently.
As Ireland changes, our business needs to reflect the changes in societies, with new attitudes and approaches. One of our key values is Sustainability and whilst our core business is focused on powering energy transition reducing carbon emissions, it is also about growing a sustainable business that reflects today’s society and our customers.
In the last two years we have grown our business and one of the key reasons has been our talent pool across our Energy Supply, Solar Energy & Storage and Acutrace businesses. Our focus has been on attracting talent for our roles in Business Development teams, Operational and Technology support, but also attracting a range of people with diverse talents and backgrounds.
Our Head of People, Anne McEvoy takes up the story. “Our growth and our recruitment of new people into the organisation meant we came to the attention of the Irish Centre of Diversity and we were asked to see if we wished to seek accreditation.
“Over the subsequent months, we worked with the Irish Centre of Diversity to build awareness of diversity amongst our leadership teams as well as being audited on our processes. We were delighted to learn in February that we have been awarded Bronze accreditation. Its a great first step, and recognition of the work of the HR team but also our leadership group in making sure our growth path for people is the right one.”
Over the coming months, we will be looking at further accreditation as we continue to build our team. Our percentage of female employees has grown to 35% from 10% over the last two years and our mix of nationalities is at ten. These represent great progress, but more to be done.
