Pinergy, the smart energy provider, is kickstarting the new year with a promotion for electric vehicle users, as part of their Pinergy Drive solutions. This unique promotion, ‘Free Fridays’, gives Pinergy Drive residential customers the opportunity to enjoy free electric vehicle (EV) charging every Friday throughout 2020 and start the weekend with a full charge courtesy of Pinergy. Pinergy Drive offers homes, businesses and property managers complete energy packages for smart electric vehicle charging at home, in the work place and in communal parking areas.
With Pinergy’s smart meter technology, residential customers can now benefit with separate EV charging tariffs from their home energy supply. The Pinergy residential smart app gives their customers accurate daily energy consumption data, so they can also see the cost variance on days when they charge their electric vehicle. This is just one new feature in Pinergy’s constantly improving smart technology.
Commenting on this latest initiative for electric vehicles users, Philip Connor, Head of Energy Services said:
As part of our mission to help our customers to deliver a sustainable energy future, we are developing innovative solutions for today’s electric vehicle driver who sees the benefits of charging at home or in the work place. These include convenience of charging overnight or during working hours as well as separating the cost of charging electric vehicles from other electricity supply. All businesses, homes and farms supplied with energy from us also benefit from 100% green energy making their energy choices more sustainable.
Pinergy can assist and advise with the SEAI grant application process for home chargers and advise on sourcing a charger. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) grant provides customers with up to €600 towards the purchase and installation of a home charger unit.
The cost benefits are just part of the reason why consumers should choose electric and chose Pinergy. Pinergy’s 100% green energy and its user-friendly, sustainability-driven products are helping consumers around Ireland to reduce their carbon footprint and live in a more climate-conscious way. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, with more and more people adopting a sustainable way of travelling every year. According to the SEAI’s website, there are now more than 12,000 electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids on Irish roads today. Customers are also seeing as much as 70% savings in fuel, as well as the lowest rate of motor tax at €120.
Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Richard Bruton recently advised the Irish public to ‘reassess electric’. It follows the news that in the next month, the department for climate action is expected to release draft legislation banning the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by the year 2030. Minister Bruton spoke on behalf of his department saying that they financially encourage people to purchase EVs and that they would ensure there is a charging network to support EV users. The Minister also said that by the year 2025 we should expect the number of new EV’s on the road will rise from 4% (currently) to between 12% and 14%.
Overall there has never been a better time to move to electric vehicles. Generous grants, low motor tax rates, zero BIK on company vehicles, zero emissions, improved driving range and innovative charging solutions all add up to why it makes sense to switch to electric in 2020. Pinergy has already started to migrate it’s own company car fleet to electric over the last year and continues to support accelerated migration to electric vehicles through innovative charging solutions for homes and businesses.
