JLL, a leading global commercial real estate and investment management company, has signed up to Pinergy’s new renewable Guarantee of Origin certification which will power its head office in Ireland with renewable electricity harnessed from a wind farm based in Currabwee, Dunmanway, Co Cork.

Pinergy’s new Guarantee of Origin offering, also referred to as a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA), is an agreement whereby a company can purchase electricity generated from a wind farm or solar farm based in Ireland that is feeding power into the national grid.

JLL are leading out on their sustainability planning with this new approach to powering their buildings as noted by Sharyn McAndrew, Director of Sustainability at JLL who said: “We are delighted to be amongst the first clients taking up this service from Pinergy. As part of our sustainability focus in JLL, we have migrated the energy supply in our Head Office to Pinergy’s Guarantee of Origin scheme to ensure that we can certify that our building is powered by renewables.”

The new Guarantee of Origin Scheme from Pinergy, will support companies as they look to reduce their carbon footprint, lower risks around security of supply and ensure they now have a fully traceable energy system in place from a chosen renewable facility in Ireland. The Government’s Climate Action Plan has set a target that 15% of electricity consumption should come from renewable electricity contracted under corporate power purchase agreements by 2030.

In addition to leading out with their own head office JLL have partnered with McGarrell Reilly to power the newly constructed Grade-A office building One Charlemont Square, which is part of a large mixed-use development at Charlemont Square providing 355,000 sq ft of office accommodation across two buildings, 30,000 sq ft of retail space and 280 apartments. The office accommodation is designed with two light filled atriums and a central core that allows optimal natural light to all sides of the floor. It is a sustainably designed and energy efficient building and has achieved BER A3, LEED Gold, ActiveScore Platinum ratings and is WELL enabled. By partnering with Pinergy to deliver a guaranteed green energy supply JLL and McGarrell Reilly are leading out on the future of sustainable building in Ireland.
