Property Excellence Awards return in 2022

Not only is property the world’s biggest store of wealth but it is the most vibrant and dominant industry in Ireland. The Irish property market’s convincing expansion despite the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic underscores stakeholders resolute search for continued enhancement and growth. The 2022 Property Industry Excellence Awards is the beacon for all such stakeholders to come together to celebrate success (and survival!) and recognise those who have made a significant impact over the past two years and who are driving the way forward.

Pandemic restrictions aside and while uncertainty remains an ongoing theme, many real estate sectors are now starting to see signs of a demand recovery particularly in residential, logistics and offices. The recovery in retail and hotels will now awaken. The pressure on residential is strong and upward inflationary aspects need balancing. Overall, sentiment and forward-looking indicators all point towards the recovery in activity being sustained and expanding through the year.

To celebrate a return and recovery, and now, in its seventh year, The KPMG Irish Independent Property Excellence Awards is delighted to be back – to highlight, reward and celebrate such determination and excellence in the Irish Property Industry. In addition to some stalwart categories, we are pleased to introduce new awards that reflect the current times, such as: Workplace Innovation Award – Best Covid Response, Urban Realm & Planning Award and Young Property Professional Award (Under 30). Back by popular demand is the PropTech Award which witnessed the highest entries ever when introduced in 2019, signifying the impactful role of tech in changing and enabling the way the sector works, interacts and transacts. Also back is the Residential Agency of The Year representing a sector that is balancing the demand for residential stock.

From developers, architects, lawyers, surveyors, planners, investors, asset managers and agents to consultants, landlords and technology innovators, we have ensured that companies and individuals within the sector have the best opportunity to be rewarded for their successes.

Core to this success of Irelands longest Property Awards programme is the integrity of the judging process and its commercial structure, which has ensured that the awards receive both the support and endorsement of the entire Irish property sector. No award recipient is permitted to sponsor any of the awards categories.

The Property Industry Excellence Awards provide a platform for all stakeholders in the property sector to invest in the future of the industry through academic based research at PhD level. Any profit from the programme is reinvested in the doctorate together with patronage from Hibernia REIT, Cosgrave Developments, Linesight and Irish Life Investment Managers. The second doctorate commenced in September 2019 is titled “Developing a functional and sustainable housing system, a multi perspective approach”. The thrust of which will be to capture the major elements of what Irelands housing system should do and for whom. It will look at both supply and use-side theories on functionality and long term sustainability.
