50% of homeowners have said that they are considering installing solar panels this year. The research, conducted by Bounce Insights on behalf of Pinergy Solar, found that cost-savings from reduced energy bills is the universal top motivator for homeowners installing solar panels.
The study also discovered that sustainability resonates more strongly with women, whereas energy security resonates more strongly with men.
When asked about the awareness of financial incentives involved in installing solar panels, 82% of respondents were aware of the SEAI Solar Grants while 59% knew about the ability to sell excess energy back to the grid.
However, only 24% of respondents had knowledge of the Zero VAT rate on installations and just over 9% were not aware of any of the financial incentives at all.
Research also revealed that there is a disparity in awareness levels regarding financial incentives, with women showing lower awareness of grants, VAT rates, and ability to earn income through microgeneration compared with men.
SEAI grants for solar installations have been reduced this year to €2,100, down from €2,400 last year. With 8 weeks to go before summer, Pinergy Solar is offering to give customers the same reduction as they would have gotten last year as an incentive to invest in sustainable solar energy.
Pinergy Solar is offering customers the equivalent of 2023 solar grant rates up to a maximum value of €300, until the end of April. This offer will enable customers to have solar panels installed in time to take advantage of the longer summer days.
With the clocks going forward on 31st March, days will soon be longer, providing more hours of daylight which makes for perfect conditions for solar power generation. The process is simple, with customers up and running in just 8 weeks, from initial free site audit to installation.
Pinergy Solar has also launched a limitless ‘refer a friend’ initiative where customers receive a €150 One4all Voucher for themselves and a €150 One4all Voucher for your friend.
Pinergy Solar have launched a competition to win up to €10,000 worth of Solar PV installation – competition closes on 3rd May follow to enter click here.
Commenting on the solar offers available, Ronan Power, CEO of Pinergy Solar said; “We want to encourage more homeowners to invest in solar to accelerate Ireland’s energy transition. Renewable energy is not only good for the environment but is good for the homeowner’s pocket.
Additionally, Pinergy offers 25c per kWh microgeneration payments for customers who are exporting excess electricity from solar panels, allowing customers earn additional income from their unused excess energy generated.
