PINERGY, the smart energy provider and Munster Rugby player Andrew Conway are kicking off 2020 with a promotion for electric vehicle users, as part of PINERGY Drive solutions. PINERGY’S ‘Free Friday’ gives residential customers the opportunity to enjoy free electric vehicle charging every Friday throughout 2020 allowing users to start the weekend with a full charge courtesy of PINERGY.

PINERGY Drive offers homes, businesses and property managers complete energy packages for smart electric vehicle charging at home, in the work place and communal parking areas. This is the latest sustainability initiative from PINERGY who provides 100 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources including hydro, wind and solar power. Munster Rugby’s home stadiums, Thomond Park and Irish Independent Park, are fully powered by renewable energy sources supplied by PINERGY its official energy partner.

With PINERGY’s smart meter technology, residential customers can now benefit with separate electric vehicle charging tariffs from their home energy supply. The PINERGY residential smart app gives their customers accurate daily energy consumption data, so they can also see the cost variance on days when they charge their electric vehicle. This is just one new feature in PINERGY’s constantly evolving smart technology.

Speaking at the announcement, Andrew Conway said “I’m excited to be partnering with PINERGY on the Free Friday initiative to support the drive towards electric vehicles. PINERGY has been a strong supporter of Munster Rugby through its #WeAre16 campaign, giving fans the 16 jersey and introducing new WeAre16 zones to keep the fans warm through winter. It’s great to see them add to their renewable energy credentials so that we are building a better and more sustainable stadium experience for our fans. We are proud that all of the energy in Irish Independent Park and Thomond Park comes from renewable sources.”

Enda Gunnell, Chief Executive Officer for PINERGY said“We at PINERGY are delighted to have Andrew come on board to announce that PINERGY will be providing its residential customers with free charging of their electric vehicles on Fridays throughout 2020. At PINERGY, it is part of our mission to help our customers to deliver a sustainable energy future, we are developing innovative solutions for today’s electric vehicle drivers who see the benefit of charging at home or in the work place. All business, homes and farms supplied with energy from PINERGY benefit from 100% green energy making their energy choices more sustainable.”

In addition to the cost benefits, PINERGY’s 100% green energy and its user-friendly sustainability-driven products are helping customers around Ireland to reduce their carbon footprint and live in a more climate-conscious way. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, with more and more people adopting a sustainable way of travelling every year. According to the SEAI’s website, there are now more than 12,000 electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids on Irish roads today. Customers are also seeing as much as 70% savings in fuel, as well as the lowest rate of motor tax at €120.

There has never been a better time to move to electric vehicles. Generous grants, lower motor tax rates, zero BIK on company vehicles, zero emissions, improved driving range and innovative charging solutions all add up to why it makes sense to switch to electric in 2020. PINERGY has already started to migrate its own company car fleet to electric over the last year and is commited to supporting accelerated migration to electric vehicles through innovative charging solutions for homes and businesses.
