Pinergy was joined today by Munster player Oli Jager as they were unveiled as the official presenting partner for the unique clash of Munster Rugby and Crusaders at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork on Saturday, February 3rd 2024.

The announcement comes just weeks after Pinergy launched the fourth year of their sponsorship of the Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup competition, which sees Pinergy continue to support the development and sustainability of the game for young players across the province. Today’s news is a further commitment of Pinergy’s support for Munster Rugby, as they return the professional rugby game to the iconic GAA grounds in Cork following last season’s historic fixture versus South Africa A. Pinergy is set to mark the momentous occasion over the coming weeks with activations set to empower the Munster faithful to get behind their team for what is set to be another thrilling occasion for the club.

The highly anticipated clash will see Munster Rugby bid to overcome seven-in-a-row Super Rugby Champions Crusaders for the first-ever clash between the reigning champions of Super Rugby and the United Rugby Championship. All eyes now lay firmly on Munster with the province having delivered a multitude of inspirational wins over the All Blacks (1978) and Australia (1992, 2010) along with last season’s memorable victory, which saw Munster overcome South Africa A in front of 41,400 supporters.

The second encounter in Cork is sure to be another thrilling occasion, given Munster Rugby’s ties to the Christchurch outfit. Former Munster Rugby Head Coach Rob Penney now leads the Crusaders having taken over from All Blacks Head Coach Scott Robertson this season. The red thread continues between the two clubs with Munster legend Ronan O’Gara spending time at the Crusaders when first beginning his coaching journey. Former Crusaders player Rua Tipoki is also fondly remembered by Munster fans for his time spent at the club.

Speaking about the news, CEO of Pinergy, Enda Gunnell said: “As we continue our sustainability focused support of Munster through the delivery of energy initiatives at both Thomond Park and Virgin Media Park from Renewable energy supply, energy measurement and Electric Vehicle charging solutions, we are delighted to support yet another exciting fixture for Munster Rugby. Our support of the Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup will help grow a sustainable future for the game through participation and creating pathways to adult games.  After an unforgettable season for Munster Rugby having overcome South Africa A to being crowned URC Champions, we are thrilled to be returning as the presenting partner for this match. We are very proud to support Munster Rugby in their bid to create another memorable occasion once again for the fans across the province.”

Also speaking at the announcement, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Munster Rugby, Dave Kavanagh stated: ““We are delighted that our long-time energy partner, Pinergy, have come on board again as the Presenting Partner for another Touring match and what is set to be an exciting day for Munster Rugby and our fans next month. This will be a historic clash between two iconic teams from opposite ends of the globe and we are especially excited to welcome the Crusaders to Páirc Uí Chaoimh for the first time as we continue our proud tradition of hosting major touring sides in the province. The game will be played in front of another sell-out crowd in Cork and there will be no doubt that the Munster faithful will be in full voice as usual on the night!”

Pinergy is proud to continue supporting Munster rugby including at Schools Cup level, but also in the supply of renewable energy to Munster’s Thomond Park and Virgin Media Park. Pinergy also continue to support Munster Rugby’s bid to become one of the most sustainable brands in world rugby.
