Smart meters, the future for homes, a revolution for your property portfolio
News broke late in 2017 on the plans for smart electricity meters to be introduced to every home and business in Ireland. According to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) the initial phase of the rollout will commence in 2019, with all 2.3 million customers receiving the meters by 2024. This initiative is set to make traditional meter reading and billing redundant however some are not aware that smart metering systems are already a reality for many homes and businesses today.
Aside from the obvious cost reduction benefits for homes, at Pinergy, we have developed innovative technologies to complement and enhance the performance of these systems, solving issues for Property Managers, letting agents and landlords alike.
So who can benefit from Pinergy Smart Technologies:
- Property managers who require visibility of their portfolio.
- Landlords who are tired of paying the electricity bills left behind by tenants and want to take action
- Letting agents who want to avoid time-consuming and costly electricity disconnections
- Companies that need a GDPR compliant solution for utility transfer on vacant properties
For those with the foresight to embrace this technology, the benefits are extensive. From cost reduction to reduced admin, there are many reasons why those in the property sector should consider embracing smart metering. Our energy management service ‘the Landlord portal’ is the only system on the market that provides Property Professionals with certainty, insight and control over their entire property portfolio’s energy consumption and costs. The portal also provides the ability to check the credit balance of each property, view usage and cost information, top-up remotely and identify units with power issues.
Cosgrave Property developers have already identified the benefits of Pinergy’s systems and rolled out installation of our smart meters throughout a variety of their residences including the Neptune Honeypark development in Dun Laoghaire. This particular development won the Sustainable Energy SEAI Building of the Year Award and the use of Pinergy’s smart metering and technology was cited as a contributing factor.
Pinergy recently carried out research which showed that 86% of consumers plan to take some sort of action to reduce electricity consumption in the next 12 months. This proves that renters and home buyers are more energy conscious than ever before. Property owners who choose the Pinergy system help their tenants to manage their usage and costs while boosting their energy efficiency and reducing waste.
Pinergy has stated its continued commitment to roll out smart meters and innovative smart services to 2019 and beyond to both domestic and business customers. We currently have over 35,000 customers and we are actively growing and expanding our portfolio of smart energy solutions and advisory services.
