Schenker in Ireland
Schenker Ireland is one of the country’s largest international logistics solutions providers currently operating across four sites in the country (Dublin, Shannon, Cork & Leixlip). They have served the Irish industry for over 20 years employing 170 people.
DB Schenker are committed to reducing their carbon footprint. They want to be the leading green logistics services provider across the globe.
The Challenge
Richard Riddler oversees operations across the 5 sites in Ireland. He was tasked by Schenker’s HQ in Germany to make a move towards a green energy supply if possible. They were originally on standard electric Ireland package with no green tariff. They wanted 100 % certified renewable energy, then came Pinergy.
The Solution – Green Energy with Data Insights
We were able to offer Schenker 100 % green energy from renewable resources. Our smart meter technology and smart manager platform also enables Richard to measure and actively reduce Schenker’s carbon impact with regular and accurate data insights every 30 minutes. Now 2 out of their 5 sites have smart meters installed and we are lining up the installation of smart meters in the Swords and Shannon sites.
Accountable Account Manager
Originally everything was being run through a call centre, but Richard preferred the idea of one dedicated point of contact. Our corporate sales manager David Carroll is that person and everything goes through him in terms of electricity. Schenker originally started off their relationship with Pinergy on a managed budget before switching to a post pay budget based on their usage. Schenker’s electricity bill is now aligned with their overall usage and there is now no such thing as ‘bill shock’.
We’re excited to get our smart meter technology in the rest of their sites in Ireland and continue to help Schenker to reduce their carbon footprint and spend on electricity as the partnership continues.
