Price change reflects increased transmission and distribution charges to energy suppliers
Pinergy, the smart clean energy provider has today announced it is increasing its standard residential energy prices from 1st November 2020. The announcement comes following increased electricity market and system costs, in particular, transmission and distribution charges recently applied by ESB Networks and Eirgrid and approved by the Commission of Regulation Utilities (CRU) on energy suppliers.
The change will result in a unit rate price increase of 2.7%. For a typical household, this will amount to about €28 increase in the estimated annual bill (EAB) based on a domestic customer using typical consumption per annum on standard tariffs. The increase follows Pinergy’s price decrease earlier in the year of 2.6% in June.
Pinergy CEO, Enda Gunnell, says: “We regret that we have been forced to increase prices at this time when many of our domestic customers are seeing their consumption increasing with more time being spent at home.”
“This price increase is caused by increased electricity market and system costs that are outside of our control. However, we believe that customers can create their own savings by utilising Pinergy’s smart technology and advisory services to more efficiently manage their energy consumption. We are seeing customers enjoy savings through the use of our smart energy technology which allows consumers to better manage their energy usage and reduce waste.”
Pinergy’s smart energy management technologies, based on smart metering, support domestic customers to more easily monitor and track their energy usage, getting instant real-time visibility on energy consumption & costs.
