Pinergy Welcomes SEAI and Government Move to Boost Commercial Solar Support to 45%

Pinergy, the energy transition company, has today welcomed the announcement by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications regarding temporary enhancements to the Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) scheme.

Under the proposed nine-month intervention, scheduled to open on 6 October 2026, grant support for eligible commercial rooftop solar PV installations will rise substantially, increasing from current levels of circa 23% up to 45% of eligible capital costs, subject to final scheme mechanics and capacity caps.

For an Irish business investing in a standard 100 kWp rooftop installation with €100,000 in qualifying costs, grant support could increase from approximately €22,600 to up to €45,000, significantly reducing payback periods.

Welcoming the measure, Philip Connor, Head of Commercial Solar Development at Pinergy, said:

This temporary enhancement is a decisive and welcome intervention by the Government and SEAI. Commercial solar is one of the most effective ways for Irish businesses to reduce their exposure to volatile wholesale energy markets, make progress on ESG targets, and take control of their long-term operating costs. However, upfront capital expenditure has consistently been the single biggest hurdle for companies ready to make the transition.

“Nearly doubling the available grant support to 45% of eligible costs fundamentally transforms the investment appraisal for many Irish enterprises. With this enhancement in place for just a nine-month window, businesses that have stalled projects must act quickly to get their engineering and grid applications underway.”

He continued: “As businesses plan their 2027 capital budgets, enhanced solar grants could make a meaningful difference to the investment required and the long-term cost of electricity.”

Pinergy is currently reviewing its commercial project pipeline to help businesses nationwide fast-track their applications and capitalise on the nine-month incentive window. The company continues to provide end-to-end solar solutions for commercial clients, combining site feasibility, grid application management, Tier-1 hardware installation, and smart export tariffs through its unique, integrated energy model.
