We evaluate each site individually designing a system to suit the customer’s electricity demand profile and matching that with their roof space and specific site conditions to produce an optimal design.
Solar Electric is leading the way in Solar PV, from newly built homes and existing retrofit domestic homes up to large-scale commercial and public sector buildings in Ireland. There is a new SEAI solar grant of up to €3,800 available for domestic solar PV installations.
A lot of thoughty and technical skill went into proposing the best option for a solar photovoltaic (PV) system for the Kildare County Council Offices at Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare, with the aims of reducing costs, guarding against energy price increases, reducing carbon footprint – and generating free electricity on-site.
Following site visits, discussions, and consideration of existing structures on the roof we came up with the following solution.
With all available roof space utilized and possible shading from existing structures on the roofs taken into account the East/West facing array could host a 73.44kWp system from a total of 272 PV Modules.
We installed a German-manufactured weight-ballasted mounting system on the roof of both Block A and Block B of the County Council buildings. The PV modules were delivered to the site and crane lifted with the mounting system and ballast weights early one morning in the Autumn of 2018. Then our installers got to work putting the system together including wiring the DC cables back to specifically designed German SMA DC to AC inverters and G10 relay compliant and tested by ESB Networks onsite before the system was switched on for Kildare County Council a few weeks after starting the project.
Solar Electric staff worked very closely with the Kildare Council team on-site at the Council offices to ensure no disruption or risk to staff and customers as the construction was being completed. We also implemented a rock-solid Health & Safety plan to ensure it was all carried out to a high standard also. Kildare County Council staff were very helpful while Solar Electric delivered this project on time and within budget.
This system will produce 62,000kWh`s(units of electricity) at the Kildare County Council Offices per Year and has a 25 Year performance warranty to back this up to ensure Kildare County Council gets value for the investment in this clean, green renewable PV-generated electricity system.
